Study on Critical Drawdown Pressure of Sanding for Wellbore of Underground Gas Storage in a Depleted Gas Reservoir

Accurately predicting the critical differential pressure (CDP) of sand production contributes to improving peak-shaving capacity and ensuring safe operation underground gas storage (UGS). The CDP sanding in target wells UGS was predicted coupling laboratory tests, inversed analysis with well logging data numerical simulations. in-situ mechanical properties rock were estimated by test results well-logging data. stress field formation then deduced through coupled finite element method (FEM) genetic algorithm (GA), based on existing known seismic measured points. Using strain limit (CSL) 5‰ as criterion wellbore, CDPs predicted, which 5.59 MPa, 3.98 4.01 MPa for #1, #2 #3, when 30 respectively. simulation showed good agreements field-measured benchmark #3. effects moisture contents (ranging from 10 ~40%), cycling times injection withdrawal 40 ~200 times) simulated analyzed. indicated that decreased an increase content times. This study provides a reliable tool prediction wellbore UGS.
